Understanding Our Ranks
RCI's rank system isn't arbitrary — it's tied directly to spiritual seniority within RCCG, so that a chaplain's standing in the Corps reflects their standing in ministry. After commissioning, officers are inducted at the following levels:

| 5–9 years as Full Pastor | Lt. Commander |

| 10–14 years as Full Pastor | Commander |
| Wife of Pastor in Charge of a Region | Commander |
| 15+ years as Full Pastor / Church Growth Officer / Assistant Pastor in Charge of Province | Captain |
| Wife of a Continental Overseer / SATGO | Captain |
| Pastor in Charge of Province / Assistant Secretary | Brigadier |
| Pastor in Charge of Region / Secretary | Brigadier General |
| Continental Overseer / SATGO | Major General |
New officers carry an acting rank for a full year of active service before a substantive rank is confirmed — introduced when the Governing Council found some officers had formed the habit of hanging their boots after induction without meaningful contribution. Participation at committee level or as a Squad Leader can also earn a cadet a step promotion ahead of schedule.
