Who Is a Chaplain?

A chaplain is a clergy member appointed to perform religious functions within a public institution, organization, or formation. Historically attached to religious houses, high ecclesiastical offices, and armed forces, chaplains exist to provide spiritual guidance wherever people need it most.

RCI chaplains are spiritual leaders trained to reach out to anyone in need — and to intervene in emergencies, whether medical, security-related, or relational. A chaplain's presence is, at its core, a ministry of presence: showing up, staying calm, and providing care in moments that matter.
