RCI runs on two parallel structures — one administrative, one operational — both reporting up to the Admiral Marshal. The Corps has evolved through several reorganisations to arrive at its present structure for ease of operations.
Admiral Marshal → General Commandant → Assistant General Commandant (Chairman, Operation Board) → eight General Officers Commanding (GOC), each leading a function: Operations, Finance, Administration, Training, Logistics, Fellowship, Welfare, and Legal. Each GOC is supported by a Director for that function. The Chapol — RCI's internal discipline and protocol arm, functioning like a military police unit — reports through the Director of Operations.
Admiral Marshal → General Commandant → Assistant General Commandant → 4 Divisional Commanders → Brigade Commanders → Battalion Commanders → Wing Commanders, covering every RCCG region and province nationwide. Each Brigade comprises several Battalions (one per RCCG Region), and each Battalion oversees Wings at the Province level.
RCI maintains 3,595 officers on record across 9 divisions, 19 brigades, 68 battalions, and 2 wings — with a growing presence within and outside Nigeria.
Administrative and operational chains run in parallel: from the Admiral Marshal through the General Commandant and Assistant General Commandant to divisional, brigade, battalion, and wing command — with specialist GOC functions supporting training, finance, logistics, fellowship, welfare, and legal affairs.
